WUIM Collab "Top 5 of 2015"

6:40 AM

Welcome! To start off I want to say thank you for visiting! I am involved in a collaboration with a group of wonderful women. I am on a team of reporters for the amazing Makeup News show called "What's Up in Makeup" by Jen Luv's Reviews on YouTube. I cover the posts in Jen's WUIM App (for iPhone and Android) Indie News, and Sephora. We decided to feature our Top 5 Products of 2015, so here we go folks!

1) IT Cosmetics Celebration Foundation SPF 50+ $35. I got this in a TSV (Today's Special Value) earlier this year and I'm in love! It's a great powder foundation that goes on in seconds and gives  full coverage. It's my go to products for days I want to put on some makeup without a lot of fuss! If you have dry skin I think this can still work for you, but you will need to be well moisturized; if not this can cling to dry patches. It can now be bought alone @ QVC.

2) Kat Von D Shade + Light Eye Contour Palette $46. This palette is everything and then some. I'm not a big neutral eye gal, but Shade + Light can bring you amazing eye looks from daytime to nighttime. Its great for some quick go to looks or I can pull a colorful palette or my Colourpops when I want to add a little pop of color. These shadows are smooth, buttery and blend amazing. The possibilities are endless! I also love how it's broken up into 3 quads neutral, cool, and warm.

3) Too Faced Better Than Sex $23 & Lancôme Cils Booster XL Mascara Primer $25. My HG lash duo! I know BTS isn't for everyone, but it is for me! Usually people who have shorter lashes the mascara doesn't work great for. I have naturally long lashes, so this gives amazing volume and good length for me!

Now the Lancôme lash primer is hands down amazing. It provides impressive extra length and volume! It goes on white and dries clear. It does have micro-fibers but I didn't even know when I first started using it. I wear contacts and have sensitive eyes and it's not like a fiber mascara in any way. You just put a nice coat on before your favorite mascara and it gives your lashes that extra oomph! I don't use it as a lash mask, but it is marketed as another use for the primer.

4) Clinique Pop Line. I can't lie, when I used to hear Clinique I thought of my mom or grandmas makeup but not these! Not only is the Clinique Pop line adorable the products were very surprising (in the best way) to me! The Pop Lip Colour + Primer $18 has a nice range from Nudes to vibrant orange and purple to deep berry colors. The finish is Demi-Matte and they glide on nice and smooth. It is very comfortable on the lips and moisturizing, but it doesn't slip around. The color is very true to what you see in the tube and even the color on the packaging! They wear like a normal lipstick, as in it will leave a little mark on your coffee cup, but the pigmentation is so high that it doesn't really effect the color until several hours of wear time. The lipstick is very easy to touch up and doesn't cling to dry patches. I see more of these in my future!

Onto the Cheek Pop $22. These are so pretty but pack a great punch as well! Again the color is very true to what you see. I have Peach Pop & Cola Pop and love them! There is a great range to these as well and most colors are suitable for all skin tones. You can get a sheer look, but you can also build these up very easily. They go on smooth and have great staying power! For the lighter colors (even my Peach Pop) I do feel like you have to get past the first "layer". Once you use it a few times you get better pigmentation but with darker shades like Cola Pop watch out lol! You need a very very light hand or you could be aboard the clown town express train very fast!! These do still look aesthetically pleasing after a lot of use. My Peach Pop was my go to this summer and it looks like I barely touched it! I would highly recommend these!

5) Last but certainly not least I had a terrible time trying to narrow this down, so I cheated a little and will say my ever growing Indie Eyeshadow Collection. It's impossible to just pick one brand, but if we are talking about product performance compared to price point I have to say Colourpop, Looxi Beauty and Glamour Doll Eyes are my front runners. This could start to look like a dissertation soon, but I have to say if you haven't tried Indie shadow come to the dark side...we have cookies! More like some kick a$$ pigmentation and well thought out color/color combos. I am planning on writing a more in depth post about my indie collection, but I will list some favorite brands of mine:
BH Cosmetics (specifically the Carli Byble Palette)

You really can't go wrong with a lot of the indie brands. They have colors you do not normally see in addition to great duo-chromes, mulit color shadows, shadows with complex color combos and more! It really lets you experiment on the level you are comfortable with in addition to stepping out of your comfort zone and trying new things. It is always an added bonus to me to be able to support smaller businesses.

There are so many more things I want to mention and it was very hard to narrow it down, but hopefully I will be doing more blog post soon on other products.
