Melt Cosmetics Eyeshadow Stacks (Radioactive, Dark Matter, & Love Sick)

11:49 AM

Hello all and thanks for stopping by!! So, ever since I was watching a makeup tutorial on YouTube (I wish I remembered the YTers name!) and she whipped out a Melt Eyeshadow stack I was SOLD! I can't lie though eyeshadows are my favorite things to collect with blush coming in a close second. Also, I am a packaging sucker, so there was no hope for me. Lets talk about these stacks, so here we go folks!

Melt Stacks

The Melt Cosmetics Eyeshadow Stacks are $48 per stack. Ouch, I know, but after doing some math they are not priced bad at all. In addition I got all my stacks during a 30% off sale (bringing it to $33.60 each, but their $7 shipping is a killer). I posted on my IG nikki6543 and in my snap story (nikki6543 on Snapchat) last week about the sale, so make sure to follow me! I took the plunge since I love the Love Sick stack, so she missed her sister Dark Matter and wanted to meet the newborn brother Radioactive lol!!

L-R Dark Matter, Radioactive, Love Sick

Lets get down to numbers here! Each Stack has four shadows and a small mirror on the top. They are all $48 a piece, so that works out to be $12 a shadow. The Radioactive Stack has a total of 9.268g/0.327oz (approx 2.317g/0.08oz per shadow). Keep in mind this stack weighs the less then the other two. The The Urban Decay Electric Palette $49 (12g/.4oz) and Ardency Inn MODSTER Manuka Honey Enriched Pigments $21 (.06oz) are to compare price points.

The shades are:
*Radon – This pressed pigment was inspired by a beautiful orange ribbon with pink reflects! Electrify your lipstick by adding a touch of this color on top!
Neon – Brighten your eyes with this intense neon yellow with hints of gold specks!
Xenon – This eye shadow packs an incredible electric lime punch!
*Radioactive – This pressed pigment is Hot! Hot! Hot! Pink! Try it on your lips for a powerful saturated pout!
*Contains ingredients that are not approved for the eyes.

Radioactive Stack

The Radioactive Stack is not for the faint of heart, so if you are not comfortable with color, especially neon I would skip this one. There is enough product to last a very long time. Just like the Urban Decay Electric Palette some pigments are marked not safe for eye use (Radioactive and Radon). This is a regulation only the US government gives pressed pigments, but they are labeled to be safe in places, such as, Europe and Canada. I can link a blog post that goes into further detail HERE, but there are a ton more on the internet as well. I have used them on my eyes (both the Melt Stack and UD). I'm alive, but it just might stain your lids. I'm not a Dr. though, so that decision is up to you.

For everyone who is interested these colors are insanely intense and in a great way. They do have a different texture then the other stack shadows, but I believe it is because they are a pressed pigment. They go on great and blend out well. They do have a lot of kick up and are a bit messy, so I find patting opposed to swirling my brush works best. Radon has to be my favorite because I love orange, but that pink shift is amazing!!!

Radioactive Swatches

Onto the Love Sick and Dark Matter Stack. They have the same weight, pigmentation and consistency, so to not sound to redundant I'm grouping them together. Each stack is $48 14.28g/0.5oz total (approx 3.57g/0.125oz per shadow) Compared to Makeup Geek Eyeshadow $6 (1.8g/0.064oz), MAC Eyeshadow $16 (1.3g/0.04oz). When you break it down like that the price doesn't seem very unreasonable.

Shades in Dark Matter:
Blurr- a soft beautiful blending/eraser shadow
Unseen- a cool-medium delicious caramel brown

Enigma- a beautiful rusted red-brown
Dark Matter- the most pigmented pitch-black

Shades in Love Sick:
Promiscuous- a beautiful color changing violet-blue! Use it alone, or combine it with black to reveal a completely different shade!
Fixated - a gorgeous matte grey inspired by one of our favorite lipsticks, Space Cake, so pigmented and cool you have to see to believe
Amelie- a perfectly peachy gold, you'll want to add it all over Cheeks! Highlight! Eyes! It glistens and glides on with ease
Love Sick- a beautiful ultra-matte burgundy-red ...inspired by our most popular lipstick 6six6!

I can't really say anything bad about these Stacks. They are beautifully pigmented, creamy, and blend like a dream. The packaging is adorable but some might not like that in terms of storage, but I don't have a problem with it. I'm proud to display them! Melt Cosmetics also sells lipsticks, so they are the next on my list to check out!! You can find them at www.meltcosmetics.com

One last thing I wanted to point out is even though Enigma and Love Sick look similar in the pan they are not, so I did a side by side swatch of them for you.

  1. Thank you for a great review. Packaging is so different and in my opinion it's genius. My favorites are the Love Sick and the Dark Matters. I've seen them on You Tube and pigmentation is probably some of the best I've seen around.
